Captivate tutorials responses

Dear All,

My request for Captivate tutorials to brag about garnered some great 
responses!  Thanks to all who contributed - we have some great ideas to use 
in our class. I have posted a list of the results below with contact 
information for the respondents so that you can get answers to any questions 
you might have.  I think this list is a great forum for sharing - please send 
a notice to the list when you post a tutorial so we can all be inspired!

I don't have Cap 3 yet, but have been using the previous versions to create 
some tutorials here at UCB.  Here's a link to the main page:

You might be interested in the "Evaluate scholarly materials online" 
tutorial, which was created in collaboration with Merinda McLure at Colorado 
State University.

I'm also working with Jesse Silva, our Federal Government Information 
librarian, on a mash-up that combines Captivate screencasts with a wiki and 
live database searching.  This is in development and not yet publicly 
available, but in case you're interested in seeing it:

I maintain a small, informal list of Captivate users in libraries, and will 
pass your message along to them as well.  I'd be interested in seeing the

created using Captivate version 1.

Well I don't know if it is much to brag about.

Here are two Captivate 2 projects that I have put together for our library.

The first is a very basic straight forward use of the software.

Maribeth,

Though I don't claim to have the flashiest Captivate tutorials, I do think 
that the Academic Search Premier (ASP) & JSTOR video tutorials are two of the 
best that I have completed so far.  You can view them here:

In regard to the ASP tutorial, I like that one because it requires the 
interaction of the student viewing it to choose whether he/she wants to view 
the introduction or advanced tutorial.  You can get much more interactive 
than what I did in this tutorial, which I'm sure you already know.  

FYI.  I used Captivate 2 so things may be different with version 3.

There a lots of tutorials in the ACRL PRIMO 
database(http://www.ala.org/ala/acrlbucket/is/iscommittees/webpages/emer
gingtech/primo/index.cfm) and in MERLOT
(http://www.merlot.org/merlot/index.htm). You can find a lot using Google, 
and don't forget good ol' YouTube, where many of the videos are funny as well 
as instructional.

This one was constructed with Captivate 1.  There’s a lot we would change 
about it NOW but I don’t think it’s half bad considering.  It lives on the 
Tutorials page on the Libraries website.

The below ones tutorials were constructed in conjunction with the College of 
Justice & Safety here at Eastern Kentucky University.  The video magic is all 
thanks to the very talented people who work in the Distance & Multi-media 
Office in the College.  However, librarians wrote the script and wrote the 
content for and created the screen capture tutorials in Captive 1.  They live 
directly in Blackboard, the online course management system here at EKU.  
They are linked to every online course in the College of Justice & Safety.
