So, it sounds like it's basically inevitable that our profile will be
deleted.  I just made one for us a couple days ago and I was getting
excited about using it to get in touch with students in a different way.

Well, I guess there is something to be said for the groups in Facebook.
We all could still make groups and try to connect with students that way
via the discussion board and picture capabilities, I suppose, but it's
just not as fun as having a profile for the library.

UIUC Undergrad Library's was suspended, not deleted. We were able to at
least learn about it and get back into it (by turning it into a personal
profile) by contacting the info email the login denial gives... But,
this is still a problem since students know us as "The Undergrad
Library" -- they don't know our individual names! In any case ... I
think the terms of use changed recently.... It is potentially a good
reminder for us all the challenges of relying on "real world"
systems.... ;-)
